How To View A Copyright Claim On YouTube?

As you create content, you own the copyright to what you create. It includes things like blog posts, photos, and videos. When somebody else uses your copyrighted material without your permission, it’s called copyright infringement.

If you find that somebody has used your copyrighted material without your permission, you can send them a copyright claim. It is a formal notice that tells the infringing party they’re using your material without your permission and that they need to stop.

A copyright claim can also get the infringing party to pay damages. It is usually done if the infringement was done for commercial gain.

If you receive a copyright claim, responding to it is important. If you ignore it, you could open up to a lawsuit.

What happens if you receive a copyright claim?

Copyright claims are different from Community Guidelines strikes. A copyright claim doesn’t result in a strike on your account, but if too many copyright claims accumulate, your account will be subject to termination.

When a copyright holder notifies YouTube that one of your videos violates their copyright, we may take it down. It is called a copyright strike. When you receive a copyright strike, you’re not allowed to upload, comment on, like, or do any other activity on YouTube that requires a channel. If you get three copyright strikes, YouTube will terminate your account.
